The level of automatic packaging machines has reached a new stage, beginning to show trends of standardization, complete sets, and automation, with the emergence of equipment that is complex in transmission and high in technical content. It can be said that China's machinery production has met the basic domestic demand and has begun exporting to Southeast Asia and Third World countries. For example, China's total import and export volume in 2000 was 2.737 billion US dollars, of which exports were 1.29 billion US dollars, an increase of 22.2% compared to 1999. Among the exported machinery types, food processing machines (dairy, pastries, meat, fruit), ovens, packaging, labeling machines, and paper-plastic-aluminum composite can production equipment were exported more frequently. Food machinery such as sugar making, brewing, beverage, and vacuum packaging equipment has also begun to be exported as complete sets.
Traditional packaging machinery mostly used mechanical control methods, such as cam distributor shaft types, and later appeared control methods like photoelectric control and pneumatic control. However, with the continuous advancement of food processing technology and increasing demands on packaging parameters, the original control systems can no longer meet development needs. New technologies should be adopted to transform the appearance of food packaging machinery. Today's food packaging machinery is a mechatronic device integrating mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, optical, and magnetic technologies. In design, efforts should focus on improving the automation level of packaging machinery, separating packaging machinery development from computers, and achieving mechatronic control. 
The essence of mechatronics is to start from a system perspective, using process control principles to organically combine mechanical, electronic, information, and detection-related technologies to achieve overall integration. In general, it introduces microcomputer technology into packaging machinery, applies mechatronic technology, develops intelligent packaging technology, and combines it into a fully automatic packaging system according to product automatic packaging process requirements for production. The detection and control of the production process, as well as fault diagnosis and elimination, will be fully automated, achieving high-speed, high-quality, low-consumption, and safe production. It can be used for accurate measurement, high-speed filling, and automatic control of the packaging process in aquatic product processing foods, greatly simplifying the structure of packaging machinery and improving packaging product quality. For example, the common plastic bag sealing machine's sealing quality is related to packaging materials, heat sealing temperature, and operating speed. If the material (type, thickness) changes, the temperature and speed must also be adjusted accordingly, but the changes are difficult to control. Using microcomputer control, the sealing temperature and speed parameters for various packaging materials can be input into the microcomputer memory, combined with necessary sensors to form an automatic tracking system. This way, no matter which process parameter changes, sealing quality can be guaranteed.
